Gamificaton: game design for serious purposes
The paradigm of adopting games and play as systems for representing real-life conditions, imparting knowledge and moral teachings, and generally nurturing social evolution, now referred to as game-based learning (GBL), has existed for thousands of years (as far back as 3500 BC!). In this seminar we will discuss some of the fundamental elements that contribute to engaging game design and how this translates for the application of game-based learning, gamification and playful applications for serious purposes such as education, business and health-based disciplines.
